FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) - CMP

What is the current status of the CMP Exam?

The CMP exam is updated and available to future CMP candidates. The exam content has not drastically changed from the past exam versions.

Letter from EIC -February 2026:

“There is currently no timeline available for the 2026 manual, as there have been unexpected delays that might push the deadline out to much later this year. The materials listed below will be sufficient for your students to pass their exams in 2026. We understand this may be disappointing, and appreciate your understanding”.

Don’t panic. Although there is a delay in the release of the CMP Manual 10th edition, EIC shared with OmniPear that the current EIC study materials are sufficient to achieve the CMP exam. EIC has expressed a late 2026 release date due to unforeseen circumstances.

This is a challenge that we can overcome.

PMP® & Exam (Project Management Professional) Updates

The field of project management is no longer strictly “Waterfall.” Whether you are eyeing the PMP, CAPM, or PRINCE2, the focus has shifted toward flexibility, leadership, and strategic business value.

Check the ECO: Always download the latest Exam Content Outline (ECO) from the PMI website. This is the “blueprint” for the exam, not the PMBOK Guide.

The PMP remains the gold standard in the industry. While the last major Exam Content Outline (ECO) change occurred in 2021, PMI continuously refreshes the question bank to align with the PMBOK® Guide – Seventh Edition.

Key Changes in Focus:

  • The Three Domains: The exam is strictly divided into three domains rather than the old five process groups:
    1. People (42%): Leading teams, managing conflict, and supporting virtual teams.
    2. Process (50%): Budgeting, scheduling, and methodology (Predictive, Agile, Hybrid).
    3. Business Environment (8%): Compliance, delivering organizational value, and supporting change.
  • Hybrid Dominance: Approximately 50% of the exam now covers Agile or Hybrid approaches.
  • Reference Materials: The exam is no longer based solely on the PMBOK Guide. It now draws from a “Reference List” including the Agile Practice Guide and Process Groups: A Practice Guide.

CAPM® (Certified Associate in Project Management) Overhaul

The CAPM underwent its most significant transformation in years in late 2023. If you are a student or entry-level professional, the new exam is vastly different from the previous version.

Check the ECO: Always download the latest Exam Content Outline (ECO) from the PMI website. This is the “blueprint” for the exam, not the PMBOK Guide.

What’s New in the CAPM?

The new exam is based on the 2023 CAPM Exam Content Outline. It has moved away from rote memorization of the 49 processes and now includes:

  • Business Analysis Frameworks: A completely new domain focusing on the role of business analysis in projects.
  • Agile Frameworks: Increased weight on Scrum and other Agile methodologies.
  • Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies: Still present, but integrated with modern tools.
